About Redditch Astronomical Society
We are a group of Amateur Astronomers in the Redditch and Bromsgrove area aiming to provide a friendly community for like minded enthusiasts. We meet on the first Tuesday of each month (except August) for member nights, talks and observing sessions.
On 12th August 2026 the UK was treated to a partial solar eclipse. To celebrate, and to see the Moon's bite out of the Sun through the eyes of our members and the wider community, we're running the Redditch Eclipse Photograph Competition – open to anyone who captured a shot of the event.
We will be offering a professionally printed canvas of the Best Overall Eclipse Photograph and an acknowledgement of the Best Smartphone Eclipse Photograph if this is not also the best overall. Additionally, both winners will be featured in the Redditch Astronomical Society 2027 calendar, which will be an additional prize for each winner.
